Told you I had some good stuff on the way. Towards the end of the carport’s glorious upgrade we turned our sights on the real star of our home renovation energy…the shed soon to be “Studio”.
We got a shed way back sometime around the pandemic weirdness and it was a delightful addition to house all the unsightly but necessary accoutrements that a family can acquire. It got to be pretty awful despite routine efforts to clean out and organize the shed. Once the carport became the new shed the old shed could be upgraded to the Studio.
(By the way, the “before” picture is generous. By the time I thought to take a before picture we had already started hauling stuff to the shed.)

Neil did a ton of research on the best way to go about this. The goal was an air-conditioned space where my craft stuff could live, especially my sewing machine (without rusting). Also we wanted a place for Neil to have his desk and office stuff. Once we had that, the School Room that became an office in our house could then become a proper guest bedroom.
The first step after clearing it out was sealing the walls with spray foam. All the wiring for the killer lighting and tons of sockets had to go next before the pink insulation. Then was dry wall. Neil learned a ton about drywall and finishing the surface to be ready for paint. He did an amazing job and I couldn’t be happier with it. He also picked a very light, warm gray. I wanted to go lighter than I would usually go with the floor, given it is such a small space. Since we first had this crazy idea, I pictured in my head a solid wall of shelves for all my craft stuff and some extra storage. It ended up better than I envisioned. My husband is an absolute legend.
