Once upon a time there was a carport. It did its job admirably but deep down it desperately wanted to be a shed. The people who owned the carport appreciated what it was able to do for them over the years; covering hay and feed for their animals, providing extra storage for all the garden stuff, and keeping the rain off the forging equipment. Eventually though the people finally understood what the carport had wanted all along and they got their acts together. They finally converted the carport into a beautiful shed, leaving the shed free to live its re-imagined best life as a studio office (post coming soon). And they all lived happily ever after.

When we moved here we added an extra enclosed spaced off the back edge of our carport. It has been super helpful for the last ten years but lately since we don’t have any livestock it had lost it’s purpose. Mostly junk and anything that didn’t have a better place gravitated there. Once day we were walking out in the yard and we asked the fateful question…”What if…?” And we didn’t look back.
First was demolition of the old stuff. Then we sourced windows from the cutest, eccentric old couple that buys and sells all kinds of crazy antiques. We bought a ton of windows (which I repainted), Neil framed in and covered all the walls, and we paid Naomi’s boyfriend to paint it all (except the panels that Corra wanted to paint). All the shed stuff from the shed was moved to the new shed (nee Carport). It’s been roasting in there all summer, so when it cools off we will be working to organize all the stuff we kind of shoved in there, but it’s amazing having a whole new enclosed space. It has made “The Studio” possible…
