You know how much I love an event. Sometimes events are…underwhelming. Unfortunately, the girls’ school Fall Fest was a bit in that category. Underwhelming. But the night wasn’t bad at all and we recovered with everyone in high spirits.
Corra had to be there early to work a booth for her robotics team. As the rest of us were arriving, I got a text from one of her advisers saying that basically she had heat exhaustion and was on the edge of passing out. We blame her knee-high leather boots that are a part of her costume. She got some food truck grub, lots of rest and water. While all that happened Layna did some games, trunk-or-treated every available car, and declared she was now done. Naomi fared better…Shane joined us so Nay had a buddy. They did the haunted trail (woefully unscary), and wandered around. Even though there were not the promised bouncy houses or other cool stuff…there was giant checkers. Anything can be fun if you have someone fun to hang out with. We left and got yummy dinner before I took those two to a stake Fall dance, where they continued to have a wonderful time. The little girls also got yummy food and a movie to watch. All were pleased.

This year’s ward Trunk-or-Treat/Chili Cook Off was the first one in a lot of years that I just attended as a mom. People asked me questions about logistics and I didn’t know a thing about what was going on. I could actually set up a sloppy attempt at a trunk. I dressed up as a witch because that’s what the kids at church that I teach voted for. The costume I threw together was not quite what I envisioned…it ended up the ‘fit if Elphaba became the mayor of Munchkinland. It was fine though…I love dressing up. It made me so happy to see my kids (and all the kids at church). I’m pretty sure I know all the kids and I only really know the adults if they are connected to a kid. I’m really ok with that.
