Happy Easter from my flowers. Best thing I’ve done since moving here was planting perennials that surprise me every year and remind us all that maybe allergies are worth braving if it means flowers like these. Also Happy Easter from my beautiful girls. Not sure what my man-cub looked like last weekend but he’s got a basket waiting for him when he and Neil get back. They got on the road today and Garyn has just over a full year of college under his belt. More on that in the weeks to come. For dinner, Layna choose a new dessert to follow a classic ham dinner. We did all the other traditions and it was a nice, quiet year at home. But beautiful as always. (Speaking of traditions…just like the day of our egg hunt last year, my bees swarmed. Almost to the exact same spot in the same tree. I opted to leave them alone and not catch the swarm.)
This is a year of significant milestones for me. I’m turning 40 soon and that’s not actually a big deal. I’m feeling great and as I tell anyone who asks…you couldn’t pay me enough to revisit any previous age. 18? forget it. However, the milestone I think is the most noteworthy is our 20th wedding anniversary. We hit that on the 23rd. Not quite sure how to explain my thoughts on the matter without doing it an injustice or making you gag. To celebrate on the actual day we did our normal life, except we went on two dates! We walked around our new zoo AND skipped youth activities to get Sonic drinks and sit in a parking lot and hang out. thrilling and romance and perfect. Eventually we will use the 20th anniversary to go on a trip or something but for the actual day this was all we needed. I’ve known for a long time that for our 20th I wanted to gussy up my wedding ring by adding our kids’ birthstones. The jeweler got it done by the day after our anniversary and it’s exactly what I wanted.
Neil brought me flowers, which the cats approved of and have only knocked over once. He continues to be my best friend and the only human being on the planet who makes me belly laugh so much. This 20 years has taught me the next 20 are going to be amazing simply because I’m his and he is mine. And we adventure together very well.
