Usually me and October have a complicated relationship. I appreciate all the holidays and events and the first real hints of fall. I do not appreciate when October trolls me with a week of chilly, very Autumn-esque weather followed by several mid 80-90 degree days to effectively yell “Psyche!” It’s rude. And I fall for it every year! This year however, October decided to play nice. We are more than halfway through and the weather and leaves are telling me Fall is hear for realsies. We will see if November is on-board with this…but for now October earned its own shout-out.
We started spider season with a pumpkin patch Field trip with our homeschool group. I’ll be turning Corra’s gourd daily until it dries out or until she’s 35…which ever comes first. The Annual Fall Festival was a great excuse to test drive Halloween costumes, eat cookies and brave a haunted house. Our Young Women’s group held a manner’s dinner which was a hilarious success (Naomi got to wear her Ren Faire costume!) and we took Grandpa out to lunch at Cracker Barrel to celebrate his 62 trip around the sun. You’ll have to trust me that the German Chocolate Cake I made for dessert tomorrow is as epic as it ought to be for such a celebration. See? I told you October was playing nice. We have two more big events (Ward Halloween Party and actual Halloween) but this month couldn’t get any more delightful.
