Strawberry Anniversary

Strawberry Anniversary

I know the internet has opinions on what anniversary 19 would be. I didn’t bother to look it up because I think 19 should be the “Strawberry Anniversary”. The pace of life is picking up so I’m going to be combining events and tonight is all about our 19th anniversary and our annual picking strawberries extravaganza.

Last strawberry picking adventure with all of my babies. I’m actually really ok with this. Garyn has said things and asked for things that I think were gifts to me from Heavenly Father. Things that are making me feel so at peace with my son starting his life for reals. One example…he has laid claim to our last two jars of strawberry jam from last year (he says they are better aged a bit) to take with him to school. Because my homemade strawberry jam is one of his favorite reminders of home. It reminds me that the home and childhood we worked so hard to build for him (complete with random little things like jam) matters to him. A lot.

It’s a funny thing. Everyone who has found out about our 19 years says “Congratulations!” and “Well Done!” I’m not naive enough to think that what we have is normal. Luckily it’s also not that unusual…but the way things are trending in the world…happy, long lasting marriages are a dying commodity. The thing is, my husband has made the last 19+ years effortless. In fact, we’ve figured out that come mid December I’ll have spent more of my life married to him than single and that is a milestone I can’t wait to hit. I love him more every day, how brilliant and sappy is that?!
Don’t worry, we are bucking every negative marriage trend out there. Don’t mind us we’ll be here, doing our thing, falling more disgustingly in love for the next 19, 34, 60 years.
